31 convicted in Vyapam scam
12 imposters who wrote entrance tests for candidates and 7 middlemen were among convicts.
Bhopal: A CBI special court here on Thursday convicted 31 accused in infamous Vyapam scam involving irregularities in admission in various medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh and recruitment of class three and class four employees in state government departments.
Twelve imposters who wrote entrance tests for candidates and seven middlemen were among the 31 accused convicted by the CBI special judge S.B. Sahu in the Vyapam scandal, according to CBI special prosecutor Satish Dinakar.
The court was scheduled to pronounce quantum of punishment to the convicted on November 25, Mr Dinakar said.
Earlier on August 31 this year, the CBI special court convicted four accused involved in irregularities in recruitment of police constable in 2013, also a part of Vyapam scam.
Vyapam, the Hindi acronym of Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), conducts entrance tests for various professional colleges in MP and recruitment tests for class three and class four jobs of MP government.
The Special Investigation Team of MP police first probed the scam. Later, the probe was handed over to CBI.
