New Delhi: The Congress on Friday hit out at the BJP-PDP government over the lynching of Jammu and Kashmir deputy superintendent of police Mohammed Ayoub Pandit.
Terming the incident as “horrific”, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “The brutal lynching of Deputy SP Md Ayub Pandith marks a new low. Pained beyond words at the horrific incident.” Mr Gandhi added, “Heartbreaking to see J&K being pushed back several decades because of the complete failure of the PDP/BJP government.”

Since the past couple of months, the Congress has been blaming the central government as well as the state government in Jammu and Kashmir over the prevailing situation in the state.
In April this year, Congress president Sonia Gandhi constituted a group of Congress leaders to study the situation prevailing in Jammu and Kashmir and prepare a roadmap.
Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is the chairman of the group and it also has former home minister P. Chidambaram and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Karan Singh as its members.
Congress spokesperson former minister of state for home affairs R.P.N. Singh asked the government how many more security personnel would be martyred before the government took action. Mr Singh added, “We just saw in the past one month over 17 policemen have been martyred in J&K. More than 208 Army personnel have been martyred in J&K alone.”
