Silence looms large at Khattar residence after close trends in Haryana
After the trends showed a neck and neck competition between the two parties, the BJP mellowed down.
Chandigarh: As Thursday saw a close competition between BJP and Congress for the Haryana Assembly, silence loomed at large at incumbent Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar's residence.
The trends showed a close gap between the two parties with the BJP at 36 seats and the Congress in 34 seats till 1 PM, according to the EC.
Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) which fought in its maiden assembly polls was ahead in 10 seats.
Earlier in the day, the party had planned a huge show of strength at the Khattar residence, news agency IANS reported.
But after the trends showed a neck and neck competition between the two parties, the BJP mellowed down.
However, Faridabad MP Krishan Pal Gurjar said that Manohar Lal Khattar reached New Delhi and was holding discussions with the party high command.
"As far as result trends are concerned, people have voted for BJP and the government will be formed in Haryana under the leadership of Manohar Lal Khattar," Gurjar said.
The Chief Minister is seeking re-election from Karnal assembly seat.
