Lucknow: As the countdown for Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s “dharam sansad” in Ayodhya begins, BJP legislators are doing their bit to put the communal cauldron on the boil.

BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj said in Unnao on Friday that if the steps to the Jama Masjid were broken, statues would be found. “If not, you can hang me,” he said.

He said that in the Mughal era, the rulers had demolished several temples top build mosques and excavation would reveal these facts.

Sakshi Maharaj said that the temple construction would begin before the 2019 elections and criticised the Supreme Court for delaying the verdict on the Ayodhya dispute.

“The Supreme Court has given its ruling on several matters but is putting off the Ayodhya case,” he said.

Meanwhile, controversial BJP MLA Surendra Singh has called upon people from his constituency in Ballia district to reach Ayodhya in large numbers and prepare for a “1992-like situation and this time, it will be for construction of temple”.

“The Ram temple will be constructed any cost and if needed, people will break the law like they did in 1992. It is a matter of faith and above law and constitution,” he told reporters.
