Lucknow dresses up for PM Modi visit

Lucknow: Six months after the state capital was spruced up for the Investors’ Meet, Lucknow is, once again, being cleaned, painted and decorated to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 28 and 29.
LED lights are being wound around the electric poles and façade lighting on monuments and crossings are giving a new look to the state capital, especially along the route that the Prime Minister will take from the airport to the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan where the Ground Breaking Ceremony of the UP Industry department is to be held.
Municipal commissioner Indramani Tripathi said that LED lights had been wrapped around 2,600 poles and a cleanliness drive was being carried out on war footing with over 1,000 extra workers being employed for the VIP trip. .
Lucknow, of late, has been plagued by frequent power cuts but for the Prime Minister’s visit, two 33 KV feeders have been connected to the venue so that in case one fails, the other will provide power.
According to Lucknow Electricity Supply Authority (LESA) chief engineer Pradeep Kakkar, sufficient back-up measures have been taken to make sure that there is no lapse during the Prime Minister’s visit.
