J&K: Pak army violates ceasefire in RS Pura sector, injures 1 BSF jawan

India, Pak Army on Wednesday held a flag meeting at Chakan-da-Bagh in J&K to decide on durable peace along the border.;

Srinagar: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was injured in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir's RS Pura sector.

In the backdrop of numerous ceasefire violations and civilian casualties, Indian and Pakistan Army on Wednesday held a Battalion Commander Level Flag Meeting at Chakan-da-Bagh in Poonch Sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Indian delegation highlighted abetment and support of Pakistan Army, to cross border terrorism, sniping actions on the Line of Control (LoC) and deliberate targeting of civil population during the ceasefire violations.

The resumption of trade and transit through Chakan-da-Bagh was also discussed by both the sides.

In the meeting, that lasted for nearly 50 minutes, both the sides mutually agreed to the importance of exercising restraint along the LoC and keeping channels of communication open between local commanders.

The ceasefire violations from Pakistan's side along the LoC have risen in the past several months. 285 such incidents have been reported in 2017 as compared to 228 in 2016.
