Lucknow: UP BJP MLA Surendra Singh, known as a troublemaker with his uncalled-for statements, has done it again. This time he has termed West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee as “Surpanakha”, the sister of demon king Ravan.

“The Lakshman who will kill Surpanakha has been born — Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah. The pair of Mr Modi and Mr Shah will cut this Surpanakha’s nose too,” he was seen saying in a video clip.

He alleged that she was turning Bengal into anot-her Jammu and Kashmir, from where Hindus were forced to migrate.

“People are getting killed on the streets and the West Bengal CM is not doing anything about it. Hindus are unsafe in Bengal. Very soon, the building will be in the name of Ghanshyam Sin-gh, but a Muslim would be staying there”, he said.

In the past too, Mr Singh has made controversial statements. He predicted India would become a Hindu state by 2024 and insisted anyone who had reservations about Vande Mataram was a Pakistani.

Earlier this month, he defended rape-accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Sen-gar and said “who would want to rape a mother of three children”, without even knowing the rape victim was a 16-year-old girl.
