Talks on Rohingyas underway, says Rajnath Singh
Centre, he added, has also sent an advisory to the state government to prepare a biometric record of illegal Rohingya migrants.
New Delhi: Home minister Rajnath Singh informed Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that talks were being held with Bangladesh for sending back illegal Rohingya migrants living in different parts of the country. Mr Singh said while discussions were being held with Bangladesh, if required ministry of external affairs will also take up the issue with both Myanmar and Bangladesh on deporting Rohingyas.
Centre, he added, has also sent an advisory to the state government to prepare a biometric record of illegal Rohingya migrants to ensure that in future they do not procure any document to claim Indian citizenship. “Once we get the report from different states it will also be shared with the foreign ministry,’’ Union home minister, Mr Rajnath Singh said on the issue.
