'Buy me a ticket,' filmmaker Adoor in response to BJP leader's 'go to moon' remark
On Tuesday, 49 members of the film fraternity wrote to the PM expressing their concern over issues like lynching.
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan on Friday asked BJP spokesperson B Gopalakrishnan to buy him a ticket to the moon and to also book him a room there.
This came in response when BJP spokesperson asked the filmmaker to move to the moon if he did not want to hear 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans, News18 reported.
The filmmaker took this comment in his stride and said "As a kid, I was always enchanted by the moon. I hope he books a ticket for me, it will be a nice trip."
On Tuesday, 48 members of the film fraternity wrote to the PM expressing their concern over issues like lynching and 'Jai Shri Ram' chants being used as a "war cry."
The filmmaker further said that they wrote the letter hoping to get a positive response from the PM. "But small-time leaders are making stupid comments about it," he said.

Earlier, BJP leader B Gopalakrishnan, in a Facebook post had said that Adoor was a respected filmmaker but he cannot "insult" the culture of the country.
He also said that people will chant 'Jai Shri Ram' irrespective as this is Ramayan month and that the actor should shift to the moon if he is not interested in hearing it.
