Bhopal: All the theatres in Madhya Pradesh barring one have turned a cold shoulder to Padmaavat.

Even as the cinema halls in MP, scheduled to release the controversial movie on January 25, went back on their commitment by refusing to screen the film “to respect public sentiments”, a theatre in district headquarters town of Balaghat however overcame all hurdles to screen the Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period show on the day.

“The movie has been released in our theatre on January 25 as per the schedule”, an employee of ‘Miraj Cinema’, which released the movie on January 25, said on Friday.

However, the theatre was forced to cancel first two shows before screening the film for three successive shows since 2 PM on January 25, he added.

The movie ran to house full in the theatre on Friday. The first two shows of the movie on January 25 were cancelled due to protests by activists of Rajpur Karni Sena.

However, the protesters relented following a negotiation between them and the police leading to release of the movie in the theatre on January 25, he added.
