Bhopal: A district collector in Madhya Pradesh who has virtually become a terror for open defecators in his area for snatching away their water pitchers has now literally started chasing those who have a habit of peeing in roadside.
Sagar district collector Vikash Narwal on Tuesday launched a drive to discourage peeing in open in his area as part of Swachchh Bharat Mission by imposing a penalty of Rs 50 on those who were found pissing on roadside.
Mr Narwal led a team of district officers to such “offenders” in district headquarters town of Sagar and penalised them with a fine of Rs 50 each, much to amusement of the onlookers. “More than 100 people were caught pissing on roadside by the team led by the district collector in the town. They were all made to shell out Rs 50 each”, a senior district officer who was part of the team told this newspaper.
The district magistrate had earlier, in an innovative way to discourage open defecation in his area, literally caught the squatters off guard by snatching away their water pots they kept near them to wash.
