Lucknow: In another step to discipline bureaucrats in Uttar Pradesh, chief minister Yogi Adityanath directed all district magistrates and police chiefs to remain in their offices and attend to problems of common people between 9 am and 11 am every day.

The officials have also been asked to remain in office till 6 pm and communicate through landline phones during this period.

The chief minister is likely to make surprise checks through landline phones to confirm the presence of officials in their offices.

The district magistrates and police chiefs have been asked to shut down their camp offices and function from regular offices.

Most officials, in the past few years, had set up camp offices at their residences and would function from there.

Briefing reporters about the decision taken by chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh minister Shrikant Sharma said the presentations made by various departments had got over and all departments will now issue white papers about their departmental activities.

The minister said that all efforts were being made to ensure that the problems of the people are solved at the district level and they do not have to come to Lucknow for relief.

The chief minister will keep an eye on districts from where people come with maximum complaints and the officials will be taken to task.

He said that the state government would aggressively pursue its zero-tolerance policy at all levels in all districts.

“To ensure better coordination between the party and the government, the chief minister has decided that one minister would sit at the party office for two hours every day and listen to complaints,” he said.
