CS assault: Kejri, Sisodia likely to face criminal conspiracy charges

New Delhi: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia are likely to be charged with criminal conspiracy by the police over the alleged attack on a top bureaucrat in February.

Sources said the police has prepared a charge-sheet based on the evidence and statements of many. It is set to be filed soon. Mr Kejriwal lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the “fake” case against elected representatives was “humiliating” to the people.

He asserted the AAP government will continue to serve people despite the “Opposition” faced by it.

During the filing of the chargesheet in the case, the time displayed on the CCTV cameras was nearly 40 minutes behind the actual time on the night of the alleged attack on chief secretary Anshu Prakash at Mr Kejriwal’s residence.

A senior police officer privy to the investigation said the forensic report in the same was received earlier this week. The report does not mention whether the cameras were tampered with or AAP MLAs altered the clock around the time of the alleged attack on Mr Prakash or if it was set like this.

However, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) refuted the allegations and termed them as “ludicrous”’ The incident led to a major confrontation between the Delhi government and the bureaucracy.

On February 23, a police team examined the CCTV system installed at Mr Kejriwal’s official residence in Civil Lines area and seized the hard disk connected to the system for investigation.
