New Delhi: Confirming what the Indian security establishment has been maintaining for a long time, the Afghanistan ambassador to United States has said that the Pakistan Army is involved in supplying the banned Lashkar-e-Tayyaba in insurgency-hit Kashmir with military grade equipment.

Reacting to the attack on the Afghan Military Academy in Kabul by suicide bombers believed to be belonging to the Taliban, ambassador Majeed Qarar tweeted: “The night vision goggles found with Taliban attackers in Maiwand’s ANA base were military-grade goggles (not sold to the public) procured by Pakistan Army from a British company and supplied to Lashkar-e-Tayyaba in Kashmir and Taliban in Afghanistan. Lashkar-e-Tayyaba is an international terrorist organisation”.

A top Indian Army official told this newspaper: “It only proves our contention. The Pakistani Army has been actively involved in fostering militancy and terror acts in Jammu and Kashmir for a long time.”

Not just night vision goggles, the Indian stand is that the Pakistani military has been supplying the Lashkar and other terror groups in Kashmir with deadly and sophisticated weaponry including assault rifles and explosives besides providing finances and logistics.
