Odisha: Maoists kill youth for being a spy'

Koraput: Maoists killed a youth on suspicion of being a “police informer” at Jantri village in the cut-off area of Chindrakonda late on Thursday evening, reports said on Friday.

According to reports, a group of red rebels conducted a “praja court (people’s court)” in the village, where they killed one Sukra Muduli allegedly on suspicion of being a “police informer”.

Sources said that the deceased youth was earlier working with the rebels. He, however, had left the organisation a few months ago to join the mainstream. The rebels suspected that Muduli was won over by the police and supplying information to them on the Maoist movement in the area. They had also asked him to stop work for the police and served him a death threat if he defied their diktat.

Reports said people of the area were in a state of fear over the killing of Muduli. They have been warned by the members of the outlawed group to refrain from providing information to the cops or else face the same consequences like Muduli, reports added.

On June 21 night, the rebels had killed a person at Sudhakonda village under Kalimela police limits in Malkangiri district. One Ganga Madkami was abducted by a group of rebels. His bullet-ridden body was found on the outskirts of the village on June 22 morning.
