New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted three months’ time to the Centre to take a decision regarding making yoga mandatory in school curriculum for students aged between six and 14.

Justices Madan B Lokur and A.K. Goel passed this order on petitions filed by lawyers J.C. Seth and Ashwini Kumar Upadhyaya seeking a direction to the Centre and the National Council for Education, Research and Training to impart yoga in schools.

The bench asked advocate Ajith Sinha, who appeared for the Centre, to take instructions on the issue and gave the government three months. The Bench told the petitioners to approach the court again if they were unsatisfied with the government’s response.
