Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi is trying to rope in political strategist Prashant Kishore for the 2016 Assembly elections in Assam.
Admitting that he was willing to avail his services for the elections, Mr Gogoi told reporters, “I don’t know if he will agree to our proposal or not but I intend to approach him.
Mr Kishore, who is married to an Assamese girl, had helped Narendra Modi led BJP to win the Lok Sabha elections in 2014, and had recently crafted Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar’s victory over the BJP in Bihar Assembly elections.
Mr Gogoi who was in Patna recently said, “Yes I have spoken to Prashant Kishor and sought his services.”
Launching a front al attack on the BJP, Mr Gogoi said that he was confident to register fourth consecutive victory in Assam. Claiming that the BJP was nervous and changing its president before the elections besides importing leaders from the Congress and the AGP, Mr Gogoi said that the BJP-led government at the Centre has failed to fulfil the promises of “achchhe din”.
“It has brought bad days for people as skyrocketing prices have made life of the common people difficult,” Mr Gogoi said adding that the industrial growth of the region has come under stress as Modi-government has discontinued most of the incentives.
