The BJP and its ally BDJS (Bharat Dharma Jana Sena) have decided to launch a “high-voltage” election campaign in Kerala, where the two political outfits will highlight the “disparity” towards Hindus and “political anomalies”, including in the social schemes practised by the Congress and Left-led coalition governments till now.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address around six rallies after May 1 in this poll-bound southern state, where the BJP state unit had been highlighting the “changing demography”.
The BJP is yet to make an entry in the Kerala Assembly and it never had any representative from the state in Parliament’s Lower House. The state has mostly been ruled by the Congress or Left-led coalition governments. Though the Sangh Parivar has a major influence in this southern state, the BJP’s organisation is not considered very strong. Though the state has a significant Hindu votebank, the BJP was never considered as a crucial political player.
During a meeting held at BJP president Amit Shah’s residence late Tuesday night, it was decided that other than the development plank, the campaign’s focus will be also on the “minority appeasement policies” of both the ruling UDF and the LDF and how this “minority appeasement” was also included in social schemes like scholarships for students.
Other than the corruption charges against Opposition leaders, BJP and BDJS leaders will also highlight how the UDF and the LDF started a “special trend” of only promoting minority candidates even in “Hindu-dominated constituencies” as part of their “appeasement policies”.
The BJP’s campaign in the electronic media, starting next month, will also highlight this “special trend” and the “blatant appeasement politic” of the UDF and LDF coalition governments.
The meeting was also attended by the BJP’s state unit chief K. Rajasekharan, senior leaders V. Muraleedharan, P.K. Krishnadas, K.R. Umakanthan, central leaders B.L. Santosh, J.P. Nadda, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and BDJS president Thushar Vellappally and his father and SNDP general secretary Vellappally Natesan.
