Accusing the BJP-led government of muzzling freedom of speech, senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal said on Tuesday that “those who invite our enemies and ISI to our defence establishment are the real threat to the national security.”
He said though India formed a joint investigating committee to probe the Pathankot airbase attack, the Indian team was not even allowed to visit Pakistan.
He also targeted the government for suppressing the voice of those who question it. “There is a difference between asking questions and being anti-national. We will take on the BJP for muzzling the voices of those don’t agree with it.”
He added the ban on NDTV TV channel was put on hold because the government feared the Supreme Court may give an adverse judgement, which could have been an embarrassment.
Raising the issue of pollution, he said, “Due to the air pollution, we can’t even breath but due to political pollution, we are being allowed to breath.”
The party, during the recently concluded Congress working committee meet, raised the issues of One Rank One Pension, agrarian stress and unemployment.
With the winter session of Parliament scheduled to start in a week, the Congress is gathering ammunition to attack the government on various issues. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s arrest on two occasions has also increased the bitterness between the government and the principal Opposition party.
Meanwhile, the Bombay high court on Tuesday granted till November 24 interim stay on the week-long government ban on Care World TV Channel for allegedly showing objectionable content.
