Censors refuse permit to film on ‘godwoman’

The censor board has rejected certification to a Hindi movie based on the life of a self-proclaimed Hindu godwoman. The film, Hum Hain Naughty Naughty, has been refused permission for release after it was found to be showing the godwoman in a bad light.

Sources stated that the protagonist has been shown to be of promiscuous nature and indulging in immoral activities.

“The film was submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification twice and has been rejected by its revising committee,” sources added.

In the film produced by Naughty Nautanki Entertainment, the lead actor is known as Anuradhey Maa.

The protagonist of the film has an uncanny resemblance to a controversial self proclaimed Hindu godwoman.

The censor board found the film depicting the god woman in bad light, indulging in promiscuous behaviour and promoting immoral activities and trafficking.

It is understood that the certification to the film has been denied by the CBFC as it was felt that it could affect “public order, decency or morality”.

Interestingly, while the film awaits clearance from the CBFC its trailers are already doing the rounds of popular video sharing site YouTube.

It is understood that the producers of the film are now expected to approach the courts or the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal in the national capital for redressal of their grievances.

The FCAT was constituted under section 5D of the 1952 Act for hearing appeals against any order of the CBFC.

This is not the first time that films have faced trouble with censors. Filmmakers’ trouble with censors was caused by as varied a topics like excessive violence, depiction of excessive sex, homosexual theme, political commentary and disrespect to tricolour.
