Chhattisgarh: Woman kills husband to save daughter

A woman in a Chhattisgarh village killed her drunkard husband to save her daughter.

According to the FIR, the deceased, Sudarsan Verma (40), a habitual drunkard, used to beat his three daughters under the influence of liquor. He was drunk when he returned home on Thursday night. He then picked up a quarrel with his eldest daughter Somana. Later, he picked up the kitchen knife and advanced towards her to stab her. Somana managed to save herself. Her father refused to let go and tried to attack her again. At the juncture, her mother, Gomti (35), came to her rescue and assaulted Sudarsan with a wooden plank. Sudarsan died on the spot following the attack. Later, Gomti surrendered herself before the police.

“She was arrested on charges of murder”, the investigating officer said.
