Amid the issue of cross border surgical strikes resonating on the political discourse, the Congress party is mulling of approaching the Election Commission over the posters, which have emanated in Uttar Pradesh.
After the surgical strikes, posters appeared in UP portraying Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Lord Ram taking on the evil Pakistan.
Prime Minister Modi had sent a strong message that there should be no chest thumping on the surgical strikes. The BJP president Amit Shah said, “The posters were put up by lower karyakartas in their personal capacity,” in a press conference.
Meanwhile, the Congress was quick to respond on the BJP president’s statement. Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal said, “In BJP everybody is a Karyakarta including the Prime Minister and the BJP is pulling wool over the eyes of people.”
According to the Congress the ECI had issued an order stating that defence forces cannot be used for canvassing purposes.
The Congress has already accused the BJP of trying to make political capital out of the surgical strikes, something which should have remained in the domain of the defence forces.
