Special Cell cop killed in hit-and-run mishap
Raj Kumar, who was heading to his village in Deenpur in Najafgarh, was allegedly hit by an unknown vehicle.
New Delhi: In a hit and run incident, a head constable, who was attached to Delhi police’s Special Cell, was killed on late Monday night after an unidentified vehicle allegedly rammed into his Hyundai car at Najafgarh.
The police said that deceased Raj Kumar was currently posted in South Delhi’s Special Cell as a head constable. He is survived by his wife, son (20), and daughter (22). He was living in R.K. Puram’s Sector 3 in police quarters. He was from the 1988 batch.
According to the police, a PCR call was made on late Monday night, following which a team rushed to the spot and found Raj Kumar’s body stuck in his car. After a brief struggle, the police rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Probe reveals that the accident took place near Bijwasan flyover. Raj Kumar, who was heading to his village in Deenpur in Najafgarh, was allegedly hit by an unknown vehicle.
The impact of the collision was such that the car was completely damaged. The Kapasheda police, which carried out the probe, is examining the case from all angles. The police said that the car’s bumper was found broken and thrown off to the other side while the car was found completely damaged.
An official said the police found a mobile phone next to the car, and there were several missed calls from the family on it. A case has been registered.
