Bhopal: A girl of West Bengal, “missing” for months, was found in a grisly marble “mausoleum” built by her live-in partner in the bedroom of his house to bury her body after killing her.

The gruesome incident came to light early on Friday morning when 32-year-old Udayan Das, who had been living with the deceased Akansha Sharma (28) for the past eight years, led police to her “grave” in his house here.

Udayan was arrested by a team of West Bengal police after their investigation in the case led them to him.

“She lived with Udayan at his home. Her parents got anxious when they did not hear from her for long. They went to Bankura police in West Bengal who tracked her cell phone to Bhopal,” Bhopal city superintendent of police (CSP) Govind Pura told reporters here on Friday.

The deceased’s father, an officer of a nationalised bank in Bankura, had filed a missing complaint in the local police station on January 3, police said. According to police, body was put in a metal box and entombed in a square marble platform.

Udayan, who was arrested on Thursday on charges of killing his live-in partner, has confessed to killing Akansha, the police said. He was produced before a local court here on Friday which remanded him to 15-day judicial custody.

“Udayan, who claims to have passed out from a IIT, killed Akansha on December 27 last year and built a square marble block to hide the body,” the police said.

The police is yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder, though it was suspected that he committed the crime out of jealousy, believing that she was in touch with her former boyfriend, preliminary probe indicated.

According to the police, the parents of the girl were given the impression by her that she was working in USA.
