Doctor dies after being insulted' by senior

Lucknow: Doctors in Pratapgarh district, on Monday, launched an agitation and threaten to proceed on strike after an additional chief medical officer (ACMO) died of heart attack after he was insulted by his senior official.

The Provincial Medical Services (PMS) Federation has demanded action against the CMO of Pratapgarh and the district magistrate, holding them responsible for the death of ACMO Ashok Kumar Chaurasia.

According to reports, Ashok Kumar Chaurasia had been transferred to Pratapgarh from Allahabad about a fortnight ago.

At the launch of the Indradhanush programme on Sunday, he was allegedly scolded by CMO Raj Kumar Nayyar.

District magistrate Shambhu Kumar also publicly humiliated the medical official who suffered a heart attack and was admitted to a private hospital in Allahabad where he died at night. Police officials said they wanted a post-mortem to be conducted but the family of the deceased did not agree to it.
