Guwahati: In a major breakthrough, the Assam police on Thursday picked up two persons, including a television actress, in connection with the grenade attack that rocked Guwahati on Wednesday leaving at least 12 wounded.
Confirming the arrest of two persons from Panjabari area of the city, Guwahati commissioner of police Deepak Kumar said that they have also recovered a 9 mm pistol with 35 rounds of live cartridges and huge quantity of explosives from the residence of a television actress Jahnabi Saikia Das.
Informing that Jahanbi, who hails from Sibsagar, was living in the house for the last 10 days as a tenant, Mr Kumar said that the police has succeeded in busting this nexus of outlawed Ulfa-I rebels within hours the grenade attack took place.
Security sources keeping a close watch on the investigation told this newspaper that the police has also picked up surrendered Ulfa rebel Pranamoy Rajguru who is alleged to have close link with a top pro-talk Ulfa leader, Mrinal Hazarika.
