Police raids dance bar in Bhubaneswar

Odisha police on Saturday evening raided a dance bar at Kharavela Nagar area in Bhubaneswar and rescued 10 girls.

Bhubaneswar: Odisha police on Saturday evening raided a dance bar at Kharavela Nagar area in Bhubaneswar and rescued 10 girls. The police has detained the bar manager and event manager for interrogation. According to reports, a team of Kharvela Nagar police conducted raid on the bar for illegally operating without necessary license. This is the second raid on illegal dance bars in the state capital in August. Earlier on August 3, the Commissionerate police had raided a bar in Bhubaneswar and rescued 10 girls. Sources in the state home department said no hotel in Bhubaneswar has been granted dance bar license this year. Some anti-socials patronized by a few powerful politicians and senior officers are illegally running the dance bars. When contacted state excise superintendent Prasanna Acharya said the department was keeping close eye on all the hotels in Bhubaneswar and actions were being taken those who are illegally running dance bars.
