Bihar rape: Cops look for dead body of girl
44 girls allegedly raped at state-run shelter home.
Patna: Murkier details have emerged from the Muzaffarpur-based state-run shelter home where around 44 girls were allegedly raped during their stay earlier this year.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday said that the administrator of the NGO which was in agreement to run the shelter home was close to chief minister Nitish Kumar and runs a newspaper from Muzaffarpur.
“The influential owner of NGO and main accused of rape of 40 minor girls also runs a newspaper. His newspaper was circulated in Bihar assembly. He is a blue-eyed boy of CM Nitish Kumar, deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, a local minister who belongs to his town and who’s who of the state government. Chief minister must tell who is protecting the culprit”, Tejashwi Yadav said in a tweet on Monday.
The Opposition party leaders also raised the issue in the state Assembly and demanded CBI probe into the incident.
“The state government was aware of this incident since March but took no action against those who have been involved. We have a strong feeling that political leaders and officials were also involved in the heinous crime”. Tejashwi Yadav said.
The issue created a flutter in the political circle here after a team led by SSP Harpreet Kaur carried a massive search operation and began the process of digging grounds to trace the dead body of a girl who is suspected to have been killed and buried inside the shelter home premises.
The SSP told reporters that one of the victims in her statement to the police revealed a girl was beaten to death and buried when she tried to raise her voice against one of the staff.
“The spot was identified by one of the victims. So far we have found nothing but we will talk to the girl again to find out about the spot”, SSP Muzaffarpur Harpreet Kaur said.
The police on the basis of the medical reports have so far arrested ten persons, including Brajesh Thakur the administrator of the NGO.
