The assailants attacked Nandlal Mudami on his head and stomach with sharp weapons.
Bhopal: Suspected Maoists attacked a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Chhattisgarh’s south Bastar district of Dantewada, leaving him critically injured, police said on Monday.
This was the second incident of Naxal violence in Bastar, which is going to assembly elections in the first phase of polls in Chhattisgarh on November 12, in last three days.
Dantewada zilla panchayat member Nandlal Mudami was attacked by a group of armed Naxals with sharp weapons when he was having dinner along with his family members in his house in the village of Palnar under Nakulnar police limits late on Sunday evening.
“The attack came at around 8.30 in the evening on Sunday.
The assailants attacked Nandlal Mudami on his head and stomach with sharp weapons. Pleadings by his family members to his attackers to show him mercy had gone unheeded,” Dantewada district additional district superintendent of police (ASP) G.N. Baghel told this newspaper on Monday.
