After almost a week-long investigation into the torture video which showed a Kendriya Vidyalya dalit student being beaten up by his classmates, the juvenile court sent both the accused to remand home, the Muzafarpur police confirmed on Wednesday.

The torture video of the student was uploaded on social media after which both the attackers had disappeared. “The accused have been detained and sent to remand home,” Muzafarpur deputy SP said.

The victim’s family had mentioned in the FIR that they were in fear as the father of both the accused was a noted criminal, presently lodged in jail in connection with a murder case. The FIR was filed in SC/ST police station.

“The local police has been asked to ensure that the family is not harmed,” deputy superintendent of police Ashish Anand said on Wednesday.

The action in the case was initiated after the HRD ministry had ordered a probe into the incident. Meanwhile, the BJP on Wednesday said that the state government was not taking adequate action into the incident.

“The action taken is not enough. We demand free medical treatment and education for the victim,” former deputy chief minister and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said.
