In the wake of mounting attacks by the Opposition BJP and Lok Janshakti Party over criminalisation of politics in the state, the ruling JD(U) on Saturday held the party’s executive meeting in Patna. The meeting was presided by chief minister Nitish Kumar to reassure the people about implementation of their seven-point agenda for development and action being taken against criminal elements.

Bolstered by its massive victory, the JD(U) further urged party leaders to consolidate fifty lakh new members.

The leaders attending the meeting, including the CM advisor Prashant Kishor, said in order to build people-to-people contact the party has decided to open up offices at the panchayat level.

The party has also decided to constitute grievance cells at the district level for the redressal of issues regarding the implementation of “seven commitments of the chief minister and liquor prohibition”.

The CM seemed eager to convince people that “his seven commitments”, including liquor prohibition, are being implemented with all sincerity in the state and further directed the officials to assign police officials to ensure ruthless implementation of partial prohibition, including ban on all kinds of country-made liquor and rationing of Indian Made Foreign Liquor brands in the state.

According to JD(U) state president Basisth Narain Singh “major steps are being taken for early implementation of the chief minister’s seven-point agenda for development”.

The state government has decided to impose a complete ban on all kind of country made liquor from April 1 onwards.

Besides the implementation of chief minister’s seven commitments and liquor prohibition the party according to reports also discussed the merger of Ajit Singh’s Rashtriya Lok Dal with the JD(U).
