Kamal Nath removes RSS HQ security, reinstates
Security restored after Digvijay says action improper.
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government’s decision to withdraw security cover at the state RSS headquarters here on Tuesday stirred a row with Opposition BJP taking strong exception to the move.
Interestingly, the issue has brought to fore differences between Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath and veteran Congress leader Digvijay Singh.
Hours after security was withdrawn at the state RSS headquarters here, Mr Singh, known as diehard critic of the Sangh, early on Tuesday morning made an appeal to the chief minister to review the matter.
“It is improper to withdraw security at RSS office. I request chief minister Kamal Nath ji to order reinstatement of security there urgently”, Mr Singh posted his appeal in Twitter at 8.18 am.
The tweet by Mr Singh has landed the chief minister in embarrassment, prompting him to order restoration of security at RSS office.
The temporary security set up established at the RSS office here was dismantled late on Monday night following an order to this effect by the state government.
The decision to rob RSS office of security had drawn criticism from BJP which saw it a design to attack the Sangh office during Lok Sabha elections, scheduled to be held in Madhya Pradesh in four phases in April 29- May 19.
“The security has been withdrawn with a plan to engineer attack on RSS during the elections”, senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition (LOP) in MP assembly Gopal Bhargav Tweeted.
Interestingly, BJP media chief here Lokendra Parasar took a swipe at Mr Singh for being “unduly sympathetic to RSS” by pleading to restore security at RSS office.
“Why are you worried about security of RSS? Nationalist forces very well know your attitude towards them. You are the person who linked Hindus to terrorism by coining saffron terror. You are now showing concern for RSS owing to nearing elections.
The Sangh does not need security of any kind”, he tweeted.
Mr Singh has been fielded by Congress in Bhopal seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls to wrest the constituency from BJP.
