Lucknow: UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday met the saints and seers of Ayodhya who had warned that the BJP would face defeat in 2019 polls if it did not initiate the construction of Ram temple.

The chief minister assured them that the state and central government would take all possible steps to resolve the issue. He also assured them of all round development of Ayodhya. He said that the temple, at all costs, would be built in Ayodhya.

The saints led by Mahant Suresh Das of Digambar Akhara, had come to Lucknow on the invitation of the chief minister. The meeting, held at chief minister’s official residence, lasted about half an hour.

It may be recalled that on Wednesday, the saints and seers had warned that the BJP would not be able to return to power in 2019 if it did not start construction of the Ram temple. The seers had even warned of an agitation against the BJP. Later talking to reporters, Mahant Suresh Das said that they were satisfied with the assurance given to them by Yogi Adityanath. “He is also a saint and understands our sentiments. We have confidence in him”, the Mahant said.
