Bhopal: Indicating that ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would go to Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, slated for November-December this year, on the major poll plank of ushering in prosperity to the state, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday directed heads of all the departments of his government to prepare roadmap for the development of Madhya Pradesh in coming five years.

In a hurriedly convened meeting of secretaries of all the departments of his government, Mr Chouhan said the proposed roadmap should be a visionary one to lead the state to prosperity particularly focusing on employment generation and growth of agriculture and manufacturing sectors in the state.

“Bureaucrats should go beyond conventional way of planning for their respective departments and devise strategies in a creative manner to ensure rapid growth in key sectors such as agriculture and manufacturing.

Besides, officers should also think out of the box to mop up additional revenue for the state to support the vision”, he said.

Mr Chouhan said that he ensured that the state was transformed from a Bimaru or sick state to a developed state during his 13-year-rule in the state and was now planning to make it a prosperous one in coming five years.

Hence, a blueprint to turn Madhya Pradesh a prosperous state in coming five years needed to be prepared, the chief minister added.
