Dharamsala (HP): BJP leader Kishan Kapoor on Thursday tried to stop the convoy of Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh in Dharamsala over the latter's alleged remarks against the Gaddi community.

The BJP leader, who hails from the Gaddi community, was accompanied by a few dozen of his supporters.

A clash ensued and 3 persons were injured, police said, adding 20 people were arrested in this connection.

Kapoor, however, alleged that the police lathi-charged the BJP workers.

The chief minister had courted controversy a couple of days ago while taking a dig at state BJP chief Satpal Satti. Singh had said, "What if Satii is the president (of BJP). Gaddi people also have a president".

In a clarification, the chief minister said his statement was "misinterpreted".
