SRINAGAR: The Opposition on Wednesday boycotted chief minister Mehbooba Mufti’s speech in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, demanding a statement from her on the killing of a youth in southern Kulgam district.

Earlier, the House witnessed ruckus as the members from two major Opposition parties — National Confer-ence (NC) and Congress — rushed to the Well to protest against the killing of 20-year-old youth Khalid Hussain Dar in the Army firing at Khudwani in Kulgam on Tuesday.

Khudwani with some other parts of Kulgam and neighbouring Anantnag had witnessed protests and stone-pelting incidents after the security forces gunned down two Hizbul Mujahideen militants during an encounter in Pahlipora Larnoo woods of Kokernag area in Anantnag.

One of them, teenager Farhan Wani belonged to Khudwani.
