Bhopal: Deputy Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader in Chhattisgarh Assembly Renu Jogi on Saturday regretted that the party slapped a showcause notice on her for attending a family programme.

Replying to the showcause notice issued to her for sharing dais with her husband and former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi at a function on November 5, Ms Jogi said she was surprised for being asked by the party to explain her conduct of attending a family function. Neither the Constitution nor any political party has barred a woman from discharging her responsibilities towards her family, she said while replying to the Congress notice.

The showcause notice issued on her by the Congress on November 5 cited reports of Ms Jogi attending the programme of Janata Congress Chhattisgarh(J), floated by her husband Mr Jogi, in Pendra in Bilashpur district in Chhattisgarh and said she publicly shared stage with the leaders of another political outfit which has tarnished image of the Congress.
