Typically, the Congress takes time to declare its candidates but has done so now even before the formal announcement of the poll dates by the Election Commission, that is likely any time now.

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday accused the ruling-BJD of violating the model code of conduct in Nabaragnpur district by distributing sarees in Dabugaon area of Nabarangpur district.

On Wednesday, senior Congress leaders of showed some photographs in which BJD MLA Manohar Randhari was seen distributing sarees to the people.

The party further alleged that the sarees were transported in a vehicle, the number plate of which was changed.

“The BJD has violated the model code of conduct in the district. Few hours ahead of the declaration of the election dates, workers of the BJD bought many packets of sarees from a shop and transported it in a gas cylinder-carrying van to Dabugaon for distribution. We have all the proof with us,” alleged Nabarangpur district Congress president Muna Tripathy.
