Lucknow: Transgenders from several states will be arriving in Ayodhya to campaign for their colleague Gulshan Bindu, who has been fielded for the mayor’s post by the Samajwadi Party.

“People from my community from various states will be coming here to campaign for me. They are coming on their own initiative and will go from house to house, campaigning for me” says Gulshan.

Gulshan said that her community members form Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh would join her campaign.

Gulshan also makes it clear that her campaign will not have the usual singing and dancing by members of her community.

“Singing and dancing is an integral part of our profession, but politics is different. We will be talking about issues because we want people to treat us seriously. When people from my community come here, I will give them pamphlets with the local issues written on them,” she said.

Transgenders will begin arriving in Ayodhya within the next two days because polling here is scheduled to be held on November 22.
