BJP leader shot dead in Odisha, party blames BJD

Bhubaneswar: Aahead of the remaining three rounds of elections, incidents of pre-poll violence have begun to hit Odisha politics.

Just hours after pre-poll violence erupted in Bolangir, a well-knownleader of the Khurda BJP unit was shot dead by a miscreant late Sunday night. The BJP has called for Khurda bandh from 8 am to 2 pm.

The bike-borne miscreant fired three rounds and killed BJP’s Khurda Mandal president Manguli Jena near party’s Nabina Bag office.

Khurda BJP MLA candidate Kalu Khanda-yatra who witnessed the incident said, “As Jena was about to leave after a meeting, we were talking with him on the road while suddenly a person riding a scooty came and shot two rounds at him and also opened fire at me.” Fortunately, he missed his target and I escaped unhurt, Jena was killed.”
