2019 LS polls: DMK led alliance will win in TN, Puducherry, says MDMK Chief Vaiko

Chennai: MDMK Chief Vaiko on Monday said that DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance will win on all 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

"DMK led Secular Progressive Alliance will win on all 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry," said Vaiko.

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief M K Stalin on Friday announced the constituencies from where his party and its allies will contest for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

A total of 39 Lok Sabha seats are at stake in Tamil Nadu and one in Puducherry.

DMK will contest 20 out of 39 seats in Tamil Nadu, while its ally Congress will contest on nine seats and also the lone seat in Puducherry.

Pro-Dalit Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), CPI and CPI-M will contest on two seats each, while MDMK, IUML, IJK, and Kongu Makkal Desiya Katchi will contest on one each.

DMK will contest from 20 seats which include -Thoothukudi, Chennai (South), Chennai (Central), Chennai (North), Kanchipuram, Nilgiris, Pollachi being the major ones.

While Rahul Gandhi led Congress will be contesting from Thiruvallur(SC), Krishnagiri, Arani, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Sivaganga, Theni, Virudhunagar, Kanyakumari, and the union territory of Puducherry.

Notably, apart from Lok Sabha elections which are scheduled to take place on April 18, by-polls will also be held in 18 assembly seats simultaneously.
The Election Commission will announce the results on May 23.
