The Mehbooba Mufti-led government has lost the constitutional and moral right to continue in office.” The delegation also told the President of India that the low voting turnout in the by elections is indicative of the fact that the state government has failed by “inspire confidence” in the people of the state.
Mr Mir further added “The Election Commission’s decision to hold the elections is always based on the inputs of the state and the Central governments over the overall atmosphere and adequacy of security measures, especially in the state like Jammu and Kashmir.”
Incidentally, Mr Mir was the Congress candidate for the byelection in Anantnag, which was postponed by the Election Commission of India just a day before polling.
