Bhopal: In an interesting development, the Madhya Pradesh BJP poll panel has recommended name of external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj for Vidisha seat in the state in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

She was the lone candidate recommended for the seat by Pradesh Election Committee (PEC) of BJP to Central poll panel of the party.

Ms Swaraj has been representing Vidisha in the last two Lok Sabha polls.

Incidentally, she has already announced not to contest in the polls citing her ill health.

“We have recommended her name for Vidisha seat. She was the lone candidate recommended for the seat. It is up to the Central party to take a call on her,” a member of the PEC told this newspaper here on Wednesday unwilling to be quoted.

The PEC met here late on Tuesday evening to prepare a panel of prospective candidates for 29 Lok Sabha in MP.

The list has been sent to the Central Election Committee of the party for further scrutiny.

The BJP circle here has been rife with speculations that former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s wife Sadhna was in the race for Vidisha seat in the event of Ms Swaraj withdrawing from contest.
