TDP MPs challenge defection of colleagues
Four TDP Rajya Sabha MPs on Thursday joined the BJP and had urged the House chairman to merge their legislature party with the latter.
New Delhi: TDP MPs — three from Lok Sabha and two from Rajya Sabha — on Friday met Rajya Sabha chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu to challenge the defection of their four former colleagues and Rajya Sabha members to the BJP.
In their letter to the chairman of the Upper House, the TDP leaders challenged their former colleagues’s stand on the merger with the BJP, contending that any merger of political parties must take place at the organisational level. Four TDP Rajya Sabha MPs on Thursday joined the BJP and had urged the House chairman to merge their legislature party with the latter.
“We have come to know four Rajya Sabha members submitted a so-called resolution claiming the TDP legislature party in the Rajya Sabha is merging with the BJP. However, any merger of parties must take place at organisational level,” read the letter submitted by the TDP members.
