BJP seeks energetic' volunteers
Nationalistic' youth to be party's eyes and ears' across India.
New Delhi: In a new thrust to its ideological blitz, the BJP is looking to engage at least five “energetic, active and educated” youth with “nationalistic background” from each of the country’s 545 Lok Sabha constituencies to be the party’s eyes and ears.
The remit of this legion is non-political, but the aim is political. These young men and women will report directly to the Central leadership on non-political activities that may “impact or affect” the party’s electoral prospects in their areas.
The party’s central leadership has asked all its MPs, including from the Rajya Sabha, to send the bio-datas of at least five such youth, between 20-30 years of age, from their respective constituency.
The BJP already has a large cadre base that helps in campaigning, disseminating information, plays a key role in many of its outreach programme and gathers feedback.
The task of this new, dedicated team would be to keep an eye on non-political activities in their constituency and gather information on socio-economic indicators in both BJP and non-BJP ruled states. They would be in regular touch with the party’s Central leadership. These men and women would also keep an eye on activities that could “impact or affect” the party in that particular constituency.
In a letter to all party MPs, the central leadership has asked that bio-datas of such people be mailed at the earliest, after which there will be a selection process. Once these youth are selected, there will be a training programme, which will also include training them in the BJP’s ideology.
Though party MPs have been asked to send bio-datas, once selected it will be the Central leadership that these men and women will work with.
Though the BJP has the biggest cadre network, which includes the Sangh Parivar cadre, the central leadership wants a team in each parliamentary constituency, which can provide feedback and information and, most importantly, is not aligned with any faction within the state unit.
