Lucknow: UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath will be leading the campaign for municipal elections in Uttar Pradesh, scheduled to be held at the end of November.
Mr Yogi will not only have a say in finalising candidates but will also address rallies in all 16 districts.
Mr Yogi is aware that these elections will be a litmus test for the performance of his seven-month-old government, said sources.
The political observers feel that the municipal elections will also indicate the mood of voters ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Announcing the dates on Friday, the state EC Satish Agarwal said that polls in 24 districts would be held on November 22, 25 districts on November 26 and in 26 districts on November 29. Counting will be held on December 1.
