BJP leader Hriday Narayan Dikshit takes charge as UP Assembly Speaker

Lucknow: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Hriday Narayan Dikshit took charge as the Speaker of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Thursday.

The nomination papers for election of the Speaker of the new Assembly in Uttar Pradesh were filed on Wednesday.
The election was held earlier on Thursday.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had not announced its nominee for the post but name of senior party leader Hriday Narayan Dixit was round the corner for the post.
A total of 319 members of 403-member house took oath on Tuesday.
The oath was administered by Protem Speaker Fateh Bahadur and four other MLAs nominated by the Governor.
Seven members took oath in Sanskrit including Anupama Jaisawal, a member of the Yogi Council of Ministers.
First of all, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi took the oath followed by his cabinet colleagues.
The BJP marked a thumping victory in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections by winning 324 seats out of 403, thus dislodging the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) from power.
