NEW DELHI: Standing firm ahead of the Haryana elections due later this year despite losing five seats in the recently held Lok Sabha elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that the BJP will fight the upcoming Assembly elections alone and exuded confidence that the party will come back to power with a full majority for its third consecutive term.

Mr Shah chaired the BJP's state executive meeting to discuss poll strategy on Saturday in Panchkula. Addressing the BJP leaders and workers, Mr Shah said the BJP will go solo in the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of chief minister Nayab Singh Saini.

At the meeting, Mr Shah said that the BJP will have no tie-up for the state polls, which are due before October this year, as it does not need any crutches.

Besides preparing the outline for the Assembly elections, Mr Shah also infused fresh zeal and enthusiasm in the party workers. He also gave tips to the party workers and shared the roadmap and guidance for the impending polls.

Haryana’s BJP incharge and Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan lashed out at the Congress and said they are confused and lack an agenda for the people and that’s why during the two previous Assembly polls, people reposed their faith in the BJP.

"We believe that the BJP will form the government for the third consecutive time in Haryana after the Assembly election," he said.

Referring to the state executive meeting, Mr Pradhan said a political resolution has been passed and gratitude has been expressed to the people of Haryana for giving a third term to Mr Modi. He also said an appeal has been made to the people to once again give the BJP the mandate in Haryana.

Taking on his party's political rivals, mainly the Congress, Mr Pradhan said they do not have any political agenda. These are groups of people who "spread lies" and "create doubts".

After the meeting, the Haryana BJP posted on X that the Union home minister expressed gratitude to party workers and said the people of Haryana have made an important contribution in making Mr Modi Prime Minister for the third time.

Party's co-incharge Biplab Kumar Deb, Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Rajya Sabha member Subhash Barala, Lok Sabha MPs Naveen Jindal and Dharambir Singh, Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, former MP Kuldeep Bishnoi and MLA Kiran Chaudhary were among the attendees.

Senior BJP leaders O.P. Dhankar, Ram Bilas Sharma, ministers Mool Chand Sharma, J.P. Dalal, Kanwar Pal and Aseem Goel, MLAs, and former ministers, including Anil Vij and other leaders, were also present.

Apart from state leaders and office-bearers, around 4,500 party workers from all 90-Assembly constituencies attended the meeting.
