Rajnath Singh takes PM cue, slams Mamata Banerjee

In an attacking approach, Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Monday made it clear that the Central government would not spare those who were involved in the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam and those who were seen accepting bundles of cash in the Narada sting operation.

The comments from the minister came a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Mamata Banerjee government for its alleged involvement in the Saradha scam and the Narada sting operation.

“Let me make it very clear that we will not spare those who were seen taking money in Narada sting operation and those who were involved in Saradha chit fund scam. It does not matter who the person is because no one will go scot-free. They will have to experience the life in jail,” Mr Singh said while addressing an election rally in Nadia’s Karimnagar.

The comments from the Union home minister bore significance because Mr Singh had maintained a discreet silence over both the issues during his previous election rallies and did not even utter the words Saradha and Narada. However, after Mr Modi’s all-out-attack against chief minister Mamata Banerjee, Mr Singh wasted no time to follow suit.

The Union home minister claimed that no one was safe in Bengal under the Mamata Banerjee government.

“When the Mamata Banerjee government came to power in 2011, people hoped that the days of political violence that flourished during the 34 years of Left Front rule will end. But under the Trinamul rule, political violence only intensified. The people have been threatened to get their support. In last five years, no one was safe in Bengal,” Mr Singh said.

The Union home minister also lambasted the state government for the absence of infrastructure in the state and claimed only the bomb-making factories have flourished in here.
