Suspended cricketer S. Sreesanth on Monday told a Delhi court that the investigation of Delhi police probing him in IPL spot-fixing case is “motivated and malicious”, and it doesn’t have any “jurisdiction” to probe the matter. Deposing before additional sessions judge Dharmesh Sharma on a Delhi police’s plea seeking quashing of bail granted to him in the case, Sreesanth claimed “the allegations and supportive evidence against him are completely non-existent and it does not disclose his involvement with the alleged organised crime activity.” “In these circumstances, the unilateral and lopsided investigation undertaken by special cell, which by all accounts is motivated and malicious, has been rendered suspect and wholly without jurisdiction,” he said a written reply to the court. Earlier, the special cell of Delhi police had filed a plea seeking cancellation of bail granted to Sreesanth and 20 others, including suspended cricketer Ankeet Chavan, in the case. Sreesanth asserted the investigation conducted by the Delhi Police is without jurisdiction and consequently the “sustainability of the case in its entirety has been defection and void ab initio.” He claimed the application of Delhi police was not sustainable, since “in the grab of this application, an attempt is being made to have the order on bail recalled, which is legally impermissible.” Sreesanth said that there was no material to connect him with any organised crime syndicate.
